A woman came up to Him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at table. And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? For this could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor.” But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to Me.”
This woman came to Jesus in Bethany and poured her most precious sacrifice—not just of oil, but of love—upon her Lord. Alabaster Group derives its name from the jar that held her fragrant offering because we also desire to give ourselves entirely to Christ.
Who is Alabaster Group? We are a family of students and alumni from Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University. Our goal is to serve and reach the students, affiliates, alumni, and other communities associated with these institutions.
Our mission is to be one with the Lord. We pursue Jesus Christ alone, in the hopes of becoming as intimate with Him as possible. Though our interests stretch across many fields, all of us share the same passion for the Lord and the same desire, not only to see His Kingdom come, but to have an active role in its coming.
In addition to our campus ministries, we also gather together for cross-campus fellowship and worship at various events each year. These events are planned by the students on Core Team (see Core Team for more information about us). We also organize Antioch Center, a church primarily targeting our friends and fellow alumni, in New York City, NY.
