Amy Lancaster
Director, We Will Go Ministries

Amy Lancaster is a missionary who loves the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. Truly does she live out Isaiah 6:8—“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” She has a burning desire for ALL to know the Lord Jesus as their Savior, Healer, and Deliverer. In particular, she and her husband David Lancaster serve as the Lord’s caretakers of We Will Go Ministries (WWG), an organization that trains disciples, shares God’s truth in His love, ministers to the poor, and takes teams around the globe to share the Gospel so that all may know Him and the power of His resurrection.

Amy and David were married in 1992. David has a degree in engineering, and Amy majored in dental hygiene. Their prayer and desire has always been to be used by Jesus, to bring all glory to Him. They began holding Bible studies in their home and in churches, leading worship, and through other means. But their hearts hungered and thirsted for more—to see Jesus’ power and love radically impact the world—in their lives.

In 2000, David and Amy led a church mission trip to Tunisia. While they were there, Jesus changed their hearts even more than they dreamed possible. The next year they were asked to lead a trip to Egypt. At that time, the Lord spoke two things that resonated deeply in their spirits. 1) You will take thousands of people to the mission field. 2) The people who go with you...I will pay for it—don’t worry at all! From that calling, We Will Go was born.

Jesus began to take them all over the world—to Tunisia, Egypt, Mexico, Chile, Peru, South Africa, Lebanon, Mozambique, and China. They thought that surely Jesus would bring them overseas to do missions. At first, WWG was entirely international. Amy and David took people on mission trips, encouraging missionaries, lifting up the weak, preaching the Gospel in other lands. The Lancasters also always traveled together as a family, even when the kids were young.

In 2005, they received an invitation to minister full-time in Africa, and they were thrilled. By this point, they had sold their house in Brandon, Mississippi, given away a lot of their stuff, and were telling Jesus that they would go anywhere for Him.

God’s answer was different. He told them, “Jackson, Mississippi is your Jerusalem. Jackson is on fire, the gates are torn down, the children are running the streets, and My people don’t care about it. I want you, My children, to do something about it.” Their immediate answer was yes.

Jesus provided a home for them in downtown Jackson, in a very dark, difficult area. They began to reach out to all their neighbors, inviting them over for prayer, Bible study, or a cup of coffee. Jesus blessed them tremendously, and He sent so many people that they outgrew the Lancaster’s kitchen and yard. He sent more and more hungry souls from all over—from the neighborhood, churches, and youth groups. He even sent them people who wanted to be missionary interns, live at WWG, and serve Jesus full-time.

The Lord has blessed WWG with many homes, three ministry bases, WWG Arts, gardens, and beautiful missionary interns, amazing church partners, and countless transformed lives—all for His glory. Amy and David once thought that a mission trip was always overseas, but God has taught them that sometimes it is right where you live. It is meeting people and making relationships—and, through those relationships, sharing Jesus and showing people Jesus.

Amy and David continue to live and serve in Jackson, in obedience to the Lord’s call to be Christ in our Jerusalem daily. They have also been blessed with three children, Jonathan, Olivia, and Sarah.
